Hedera Helix
Vigorous self-clinging plant with glossy, lobed leaves on flexible vine-like stems. There are many variations on the basic green, five-lobed pattern. These include differences in the number, shape and size of the lobes, smooth or ruffled edges and variegations in leaf color. Ivies are harmful if eaten. The cultivated varieties are descended from the common English ivy. All show traces of their wild ancestor, particularly its characteristic lobed leaves.
