Embassy Suites features new eco-friendly green wall

720 square foot living wall installed in Chicago lakefront hotel

Embassy Suites Chicago Downtown Lakefront has unveiled the city's largest indoor living green wall. The 720 square foot living wall located in the hotel's sky lobby was installed by Ambius, a division of Rentokil Initial plc.

The green wall system, which was manufactured by GSky Plant Systems, contains 3,840 plants with six species. The wall employs a tray system featuring an energy-efficient computer controlled irrigation system. A green wall, which is also referred to as a living wall or vertical garden, is a wall that is free standing or part of a building that is partially or completely covered with a vegetation facade. "The living wall is planted with 3,840 plants which represent six species, including neon and golden pothos, rabbit foot fern, rex begonia and arboricola.
