Challenge

Seeking a way to improve the experience of its customers in checkout lines, a major European discount grocery and general merchandise chain, turned to Microfresh for an ambient scenting solution.

Solution

Microfresh developed an Ambient Scenting program using a fragrance called 'Nature After Rain,' which was diffused over the checkout area in a test store. The utilization and understanding of aromatherapy and performance was central in the choice of this particular aroma, which is known to be helpful in shortening people's perception of time passed in a space.

Positive response to the test program moved the retailer to expand the service to additional outlets and also to add a 'wine cellar' fragrance to enhance the consumer experience in its wine departments.

Point-of-Sale Scent Marketing

Challenge

A major fine fragrance retailer was seeking ways to increase revenue and offer their fragrance brand an improved effectiveness for in-store launches of new scents and in-store product promotions.

Traditional in-store promotion was a table-top display of the product and some promotional visuals. The display space was 'rented' to the brand who would also hire fragrance models - women of the same demographic as the perfume's targeted customer - to stand next to the display and offer passersby an opportunity to smell or sample the scent.

Solution

Microfresh developed a Product Advertising service to gently diffuse the actual scent being promoted in the air space around the display or in the air space throughout the fine fragrance sales area. With the Microfresh Product Advertising service, the retailer can rent to the brand the floor space for the product display and the air space around the display. The brand subtly presents its product not just to the passersby who agree to try a sample, but to everyone in the vicinity.

An international fragrance brand was searching for new ways to reach its customers in locations that they would frequent on a day to day basis.

Solution

Olfactory marketing technology from Microfresh added to outdoor billboards has created a new revenue source for an international fragrance brand and at the same time provided an innovative product-advertising tool for their clients. The company maintains a network of Microfresh-equipped billboards in train stations and malls in several European countries that give marketers a chance to acquaint millions of potential consumers with the distinctive aromas of their products.

Professional Services – Ambient Scenting

Challenge

An Internet Company has a shared services center in Milwaukee, WI staffed with their general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, billing, and payroll personnel. They were interested in scenting their facilities to determine if scent would increase morale and job satisfaction.

Solution

Microfresh installed appliances into the Shared Services facility in Milwaukee, Wisconsin for a two month trial. Citrus Energize, a fragrance known for its stimulating and invigorating benefits, was diffused into the call center. Prior to and during the trial, the Internet company conducted morale surveys and asked their employees to rate their overall work environment and job satisfaction. The surveys demonstrated that overall morale was up while operational performance was also improved.

Hospitality

Major Midwest Hotel –Odor Remediation

Challenge

A five star hotel in the Midwestern US needed assistance in solving their odor issues. There was a strong tobacco smell on their smoking floor due to the lack of good air circulation in the hallways, a common problem for hotels, which rely mainly on individual room units. In addition, the top floor had a moldy smell from the humidity caused by the doors to the rooftop.

Solution

Microfresh installed appliances and diffused odor neutralizers to eliminate these malodors while providing a pleasant scent throughout the hallways and elevator shafts. Also, an inviting aroma was added to the lobby creating a warm and homey atmosphere. Microfresh provided a rapid, effective, and discreet solution that reflects their reputation.

 

Milwaukee, WI Hotel – Odor Remediation

Challenge

A local hotel has an indoor pool and water park. One guest tower shares an elevator shaft with the water park. The chlorine odors permeated the elevators and wafted onto the guest floors.

Solution

The hotel asked Microfresh to eliminate the chlorine odors in the elevator shafts, as well as add a light ambient scent to their lobby. Four ambient scenting zones were created in the elevator shafts, and upper and lower lobbies. The smell of chlorine was successfully eliminated from the elevators. And the hotels brand was reinforced in the lobby with the smell of fresh flowers.

Casinos

 Major Las Vegas Hotel and Casino – Odor Remediation

Challenge

A major Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas had tried every restroom odor control system on the market, installing as many as 22 dispensers and upplementing them with hand spraying during peak periods. The restrooms were still unpleasant.

Solution

Microfresh replaced 22 traditional dispensers with two Microfresh Ambient Scenting systems in the most difficult restroom. A proprietary odor remediation scent was used along with a fresh and clean scent.

Following a 3 week trial, during which time all hand spraying was discontinued, Microfresh was awarded a three (3) year contract for restroom odor remediation in all 16 restrooms in the casino and convention complex. Today, Microfresh serves the entire facility - all the restrooms and the casino gaming area with both odor remediation and ambient scenting services.

Major Las Vegas Casino – Odor Remediation

Challenge

A major casino in the Southeast with more than 100,000 square feet of playing area had a persistent, severe tobacco odor problem despite aggressive cleaning and fresh air ventilation systems.

Solution

Microfresh conducted a trial in a 5,000 square foot cocktail lounge area that presented a particularly difficult odor problem. Using an odor remediation agent targeted at residual cigarette smoke odors and a fragrance selected by management to match the hotel amenities scent, Microfresh completely eliminated the malodors and provided the pleasant and memorable scent chosen by casino management.

Following a month-long trial and evaluation by management, Microfresh was awarded a three (3) year contract for odor remediation and ambient scenting services throughout the hotel lobby, gaming and adjacent areas. After a further ninety (90) days, Prolitec was awarded a second three (3) year contract for another facility of the equal size. Today Prolitec serves all the casinos operated by this well-regarded group.

Fitness Center

Hospitality Resort – Odor Remediation

Challenge

The children's exercise, play and fitness center in a major Florida time-share facility had an odor problem attributed to the children's plastic play structure combined with human perspiration. The problem was so severe the area was removed from the facility tour provided to prospective clients.

Solution

Microfresh installed one Microfresh ambient scenting system in the HVAC which eliminated all malodors.

Resort management reported 'the equipment and scent has performed beyond our wildest expectations. Your equipment and technical support have allowed us to overcome a serious odor problems in a critical area of our resort operation and to do so in a cost-efficient manner.

Airports 

International Airport – Odor Remediation

Challenge

A International Airport conducted a customer satisfaction study. They found that there was growing client dissatisfaction based primarily on the restrooms.

Solution

The airport contacted Microfresh, which began a trial on eight restrooms, experimenting with different scents, including a fresh cut grass scent, a cotton candy scent, and a detergent scent. Prolitec's trial was a resounding success and the airport decided to change all their previous air freshener systems in 38 restrooms to Microfresh's ambient scenting system. This change has also solved other logistical issues for the airport. For example, Microfresh's ambient scenting systems can be installed outside of the restroom and piped in through the wall by a tube, preventing theft or damage to the units, which had been an issue with the previous scenting systems.
