A Holiday Haven: Spreading Cheer at Cook Children’s Hospital | Dallas, TX

Transforming Cook Children’s Hospital into a holiday wonderland was a heartfelt endeavor designed to spread joy across its six-story, 2-million-square-foot campus. With over 31 trees ranging from 4 to 32 feet tall, 286 swags, and six unique holiday scenes, every corner radiated festive cheer. Themes included life-size props, oversized decorations, and whimsical touches like 12-foot candy canes, ice cream cones, Santas, snowmen, and service dog replicas that reflected the hospital’s beloved therapy pets.

Safety and accessibility were paramount in this 24/7 hospital environment. From directing traffic during the exterior tree installation to creating sturdy, touch-friendly designs, every detail was carefully planned. Challenges like limited space in the atrium were solved by incorporating vertical elements, including a 10-foot reindeer hanging from the second floor.

The result was an enchanting, kid-friendly space that brought smiles, excitement, and heartfelt gratitude, making the holiday season unforgettable for patients, families, and staff.
