Earth Day's 55th Anniversary
April 22, 2025 marks a special milestone – it's the 55th anniversary of Earth Day, a global movement that was started to promote taking care of our environment, from the air we breathe to the oceans, soil, and wildlife. This year, over a billion people in 192 countries are expected to participate.

The focus of this year's theme, “Our Power, Our Planet,” is renewable energy. Across the globe, communities are turning to clean, sustainable energy solutions. In the U.S., states like Texas are leading the charge with wind energy, while California and Florida are paving the way for solar power. By 2035, the U.S. could meet all its energy needs through renewable sources like wind, solar, and geothermal.
At Ambius, we believe in creating spaces that enhance well-being while supporting a healthier planet. As a company rooted in the power of nature to inspire health, happiness, and connection, Earth Day is a meaningful moment for reflection and renewed commitment to sustainability. Here are just a few ways we promote greener practices across our nationwide operations:
Use of natural, recycled, and locally sourced materials
We emphasize the use of natural, recycled, and locally sourced materials throughout our design process. From reclaimed metals and textiles to local antiques and organic elements inspired by the native surroundings, our designers stay ahead of sustainability-focused trends. We work closely with clients to thoughtfully incorporate these elements into their spaces in creative, meaningful ways that align with both their aesthetic and environmental values.
Greenhouse and plant finishing center
Ambius operates two in-house foliage-finishing centers in Miami and Southern California to enhance plant quality and reduce environmental impacts. These centers allow us to finalize the growing process, ensuring plants develop strong root systems for better health, resilience, and longevity in indoor environments. Fewer replacements mean reduced maintenance and fewer plant shipments—helping lower fuel use. By managing our own finishing and distribution, we also support broader sustainability efforts through waste reduction, water conservation, energy efficiency, and eco-friendly materials.

Multiple events across North America
Across North America, Ambius teams participate in a wide range of Earth Day events, from local cleanups and educational workshops to community greening projects. These efforts reflect our strong commitment to working locally and supporting the communities we serve while advancing shared sustainability goals.
Furthermore, as part of the Rentokil Initial family of brands, Ambius is proud to support a global commitment to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2040. Since 2017, we've already improved carbon emissions efficiency by 25%—thanks to the adoption of thousands of ultra-low emission electric and hybrid vehicles and ongoing collaboration with our suppliers to reduce their environmental impact.
Earth Day is a meaningful opportunity for our teams to take action, give back, and help build healthier, more sustainable communities. We invite you to celebrate with us! Here are some impactful ways for your business to get involved and showcase your commitment:
1. Incorporate Plants and Green Walls into Your Space

- Improve air quality: Plants naturally purify the air by absorbing carbon dioxide and releasing oxygen, creating a healthier and more pleasant workspace.
- Thermal comfort & energy efficiency: Green walls can help regulate temperature, reducing the need for artificial heating or cooling. They absorb heat and sunlight, keeping spaces cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter.
- Exterior green walls: Consider installing living green walls on the outside of your building to help absorb heat and improve the building’s energy efficiency. These can also reduce noise pollution and enhance the aesthetic of your space.
2. Embrace Energy Efficiency
- Switch to LED lighting: LEDs are energy-efficient and have a longer lifespan, reducing both energy consumption and waste.
- Optimize heating and cooling: Use energy-efficient HVAC systems or programmable thermostats to reduce energy use. Encourage employees to turn off lights and equipment when not in use.
- Consider renewable energy sources: If possible, transition to renewable energy sources such as solar or wind power to reduce your carbon footprint.
3. Reduce Waste and Promote Recycling
- Implement a recycling program: Set up recycling bins around the office for paper, plastic, and electronics, and encourage employees to participate.
- Choose eco-friendly office supplies: Opt for recycled paper, biodegradable products, and environmentally responsible office supplies. Look for vendors that prioritize sustainability.
- Repurpose or donate old equipment: When replacing office equipment, consider donating or repurposing older items rather than sending them to landfills.
4. Host an Earth Day Event or Volunteer Day

- Organize a community clean-up: Gather your team to clean up a local park, beach, or other public spaces. This can be a great team-building activity while making a positive environmental impact.
- Partner with local green organizations: Collaborate with local environmental organizations or charities to support green initiatives in your community.
5. Pursue a Healthy Building Certification
Show your commitment to sustainability: Certifications like LEED, WELL, and Fitwel recognize buildings that meet high environmental standards. These certifications demonstrate that your business is serious about sustainability, conservation, and eco-friendly practices.

Earth Day is a reminder that each of us has the power to make a difference. Whether it’s by choosing eco-friendly practices, supporting clean energy, or bringing more greenery into our spaces, we can all take small steps to make a big impact.
